Focusyear Band 25

The eighth edition of the Focusyear Band brings together a truly international ensemble of six remarkable musicians. This dynamic group features two Scandinavian guitarists, Albin Ormegard from Sweden and Mads Oldenskov from Denmark, who form part of a highly original rhythm section alongside Australian bassist Alistair Peel and Italian drummer Fabrizio Doberti.

On wind instruments, the Austrian trumpet player Lorenz Widauer and French alto and soprano saxophonist Darius Moglia add light and texture to the ensemble. Though young in age, these musicians demonstrate a remarkable maturity in their ability to improvise, collaborate, and interact with one another. Over the course of a year at JazzCampus Basel, they are mentored by an impressive roster of world-class artists, including Sylvie Courvoisier, Kris Davis, Anders Jormin, Guillermo Klein, Linda May Han Oh, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Jorge Rossy, Kendrick Scott, Sara Serpa, Becca Stevens, Cuong Vu, and Miguel Zenón.

From the start, Focusyear Band 25 has embodied the adventurous spirit of true improvisation, living in the moment and embracing deep musical interactivity. Each musician is a virtuoso in their own right, driven by an undeniable passion, talent, and curiosity that allow them to embark on profound musical journeys together.
